BOILER TREAT-S
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Boiler Treat-S is a catalyzed oxygen scavenger used in the treatment of boiler feedwater for the prevention of corrosion and pitting caused by dissolved oxygen.
Boiler Treat-S is used to chemically remove dissolved oxygen from boiler feedwater and boiler water to prevent corrosion of metals. Boiler Treat-S will prevent oxygen corrosion of boilers, economizers, pump and feedwater lines.
Boiler Treat-S is catalyzed to produce the best and fastest protection from oxygen pitting and corrosion.
PRINCIPLE USE
A direct or internal type boiler feedwater treatment designed especially to: remove by chemical means, dissolved oxygen which may enter the boiler with the feedwater, therefore preventing oxygen type pitting and corrosion.
APPLICATIONS
Boiler Treat-S reacts with dissolved oxygen in the boiler water to prevent corrosion caused by this gas. The elimination of dissolved oxygen protects the metallic surfaces in contact with the boiler water from pitting. Furthermore, the elimination of dissolved oxygen checks to some degree the possibility of return line corrosion.
Boiler Treat-S is catalyzed to react with dissolved oxygen in low temperature boiler feedwater systems and other cold water systems where reaction of uncatalyzed scavengers are too slow. This catalyst causes the oxygen scavenger to react almost instantaneously with oxygen. Protection starts from the moment of application, thus assuring corrosion control in the feedline equipment, as well as in the boiler.
Boiler Treat-S is effective in protecting boilers from corrosion and pitting even during wet stand by.
FORMULATIONS
Each formula is compounded according to an analysis of the make-up water used and a survey of boiler operations.
FORM
Available in either liquid or powder formulations.
FEEDING
Liquid and Dry Formulation - May be fed to deaerator storage tank, feedwater line or directly to boiler. Preferred method is to feed continuously, by means of a proportioning pump directly to boiler. An alternate method is to slug feed directly to the boiler. Continuous feed to storage section of deaerating heater or to a convenient part in boiler feedline is recommended for oxygen control. When fed direct to boilers, protection against corrosion in the pre-boiler section is not afforded. This product may be fed along with other boiler water treating chemicals
